Here are just a few pictures of how I would decorate with the vintage and antique items in my etsy shop. Sometimes it's hard to imagine an item in your own home or maybe you just want some ideas. This will hopefully help turn potential customers into buyers and it also allows me to practice using my new camera! A win-win :)
How was your Valentine's Day? It's just one of the 365 days this year but it was kind of a special day for me... I got engaged! My sweetie got me the prettiest ring and he totally surprised me! If you spent your February 14th with Netflix (how I spend most holidays), let me know what you watched! Netflix suggestions are the best suggestions. I ended up not doing the cool DIY I wanted to do for cards but maybe I can still do it for upcoming holidays or birthdays. Check out the c-u-t-e tutorial here: http://ohjoy.blogs.com/my_weblog/2015/01/do-something-and-give-love-letters.html. Now that Valentine's Day is over, I am ready for spring! I know that photography in winter can be breathtaking and some people love getting out in the cold for that perfect capture.....not me. I do not like the cold! So hopefully as it it warms up I'll be posting more pictures on here! Speaking of photography... http://www.small-good-things.com/archives/4202 Another DIY I want to try! This tutorial walks you thru how to make your lens cap extra awesome. I'm going to try it pretty soon and if it works out then I may think about adding them to my etsy store because I can't find many decorated lens caps! I did find some uber fabulous caps at photojojo but they run about $10. https://photojojo.com/store/awesomeness/snack-caps-lens-covers/. If you want a cap but don't have the time or patience to use mod podge, I would recommend checking out photojojo ;) OK THIS IS THE LAST DIY: http://www.studiodiy.com/2014/12/01/diy-donut-elbow-patches/. I want to try this but do it a little differently so I may be drawing up a game plan in the next couple days to try that because donut elbow patches are a necessity. I've added a couple really neat things to my etsy shop, such as this rad pump thermos: I'll have trouble parting ways with this if it sells! If you'd like to see the items below plus more, click on the picture above. { MUSIC OF FEBRUARY }Is it just me or has February been a great month for music?! Mat Kearney and Imagine Dragons both released new albums. Definitely check those to out ASAP. Lennon & Maisy released an amazing cover of Boom Clap that is sure to make you smile! Some other music I've been listening to include: John Mayer's cover of Beyonce's XO, NEEDTOBREATHE's new album Rivers in the Wasteland, and the remixes of I Bet My Life by Imagine Dragons that you can find on Spotify. I think that's all for now! I'll try to post pictures of DIY projects I'll be attempting in the near future! We got a massive snow storm at the end of January and I'm sort of a pansy when it comes to winter weather so these are the only pictures I took with my new camera. I think it's that time of the year when every girl wants a new hairstyle. That's a real thing. Do guys go through that, too? Do they suddenly want a new hairstyle around the same time every year? Hmm. That might be a good question to ask a guy on a first date, you know, if you're looking for conversation material. Am I the only person who buys loads of books but then takes forever to get around to reading them? Why is that? Do you do that? Where do you find the motivation to read every book you buy? I have the intention to buy a book and read it within a few days like I did when I was younger but then....I find a new show on netflix. Or I find myself scrolling through pinterest and etsy for hours. Or suddenly baking cookies sounds like a fabulous idea. Why is it so hard to sit down and read a book now? Anyway, now that I've rambled on for awhile, February is quite lame. Valentine's Day is nice if you have someone to share it with. It's Black History month! Those things are definitely cool and worthy of celebration but February needs..more! So here are more holidays to celebrate in the month of February: February is National Grapefruit Month! And National Haiku Writing Month! February 9-15 is Random Acts of Kindness Week International Boost Self Esteem Month is February February 15 is National Gumdrop Day Very Important: National Sticky Bun Day is February 21 National Chili Day! February 26! February 28 is Floral Design Day which is my kind of holiday! This is one of the sites I used to look up holidays. See if there's any other holidays YOU want to celebrate! Make February fun! http://www.holidays-and-observances.com/february-holidays.html These are some of my favorite thrift shop finds in January. I'm pretty sure they're starting to recognize me at Goodwill and the Salvation Army but I don't think that's such a bad thing ;). I started classes today and one of my awesome professors claimed she is the biggest "Goodwiller" ever but I beg to differ! You may see some of these items added to my etsy shop or I may keep them all because I have a really hard time selling some of my favorite finds! I am terribly in love with the plaid shirt (a vintage item that actually fits me!) and the denim apron. Well. It's 14 days into the new year and I have lost the majority of the inspiration and drive that I felt going into 2015. I'm sincerely hoping that I'm just sick of this cold and when it warms up a bit I'll be ready to take on my small corner of the world! I'm taking on photography and hand embroidery this year and I also started an etsy shop. I'm also considering something I told a friend to do earlier this week. She went through something recently that's got her a little down and I told her to make a list of all the things she loves about herself and slowly add things to the list as she discovers new things she loves about herself. I don't think that's a vain or narcassistic thing to do because all it does is build up your own self confidence and esteem. Even if everything in your life is going great and your confidence is high, I think making a list of what you love about yourself may just drive your inspiration and motivation! Here's to 2015!
AND I cannot stop listening to BigLittleLions on Soundcloud. Their sound is amazing! https://soundcloud.com/biglittlelions/the-way-home This song, Act of the Apostle Part 2 by Belle and Sebastian, is too good! Really this whole album is worthy of numerous repeats but I just enjoy this song the most! Perhaps I'll check out the movie (God Help The Girl) and write a little review :)
I am in love with this food inspired sweatshirt! It's on sale right now for $29.90 with free shipping! It comes in white and black. Check out this sweatshirt and other good deals at: _ I'm also entirely love with this Jane Austen print on Etsy! The quote says
"If adventures do not befall a young lady in her own village she must seek them abroad." Love it! This shop has tons of other col quote too! Link: _ I stumbled across Rebecca's blog and immediately fell in love. Her style is perfect and her photography and editing are also great! She gives fabulous hair and makeup tutorials and gives suggestions for outfits. She has an all around awesome blog that she clearly invests a lot of time in so check out her awesomeness!
I bought these necklaces at ridiculously low prices today at my local Plato's Closet. The key necklace is Fossil and it was only $3! Of course, I can't pass up any ice cream themed jewellery so I had to get that awesome necklace as well. If you have a Plato's Closet in your area and you haven't checked it out yet, go do that!
I love necklaces because they're any easy way to pull an outfit together. Be creative and stack necklaces (although my necklaces usually get tangled up when I try that but maybe it will work for you!). Branch out a little bit in 2015 and buy some jewellery you wouldn't have bought in 2014!
Just be more optimistic... You don't have to change your entire image or who you are. An easy thing you can change about yourself today, at this very moment, is your attitude. Find the bright side of every situation. The bright side may not be much better than the other view of the situation, but make yourself focus on the positive--always. Being optimistic can positively affect your relationships, your sleep, your job performance and more. Look to those in your life who are always smiling and chance are, they're optimistic people. Just try it out! You can always go back to being pessimistic...I suppose. FIND YOUR OPTIMISM IN 2015. |
